Four free live courses in August 2026 — agentic AI literacy, Voyant and Spyral with LLMs, African NLP, and data science for DH.
The African Digital Humanities 2026 Hackathon is a set of four live, standalone training courses run by the ADH Lab and supported by the CourseHub e-learning portal. Each course stands on its own: register for the days you want.
The programme moves from AI literacy in the age of agentic systems, through hands-on semantic text analysis in Voyant Tools and Spyral, to African NLP and AI models, and closes with data science and computational methods for DH. Teaching uses African corpora throughout — Achebe's texts, the Igbo Gospel, the Hausa Bible, Arabic sources — and part of the work is reviewing and correcting machine translations of DH terminology to build a shared African DH vocabulary.
The Voyant day on 7 August opens with everyone together, then splits for one hour into beginner, intermediate and advanced rooms, before reconvening to plan what comes next — the CourseHub courses that carry the work further and how to keep working with the instructors afterwards. Sessions are live on Zoom and free to attend. CourseHub hosts the learning materials, lab tasks and recordings.
